bleed is a German manufacturer based in Helmbrechts in Upper Franconia and mainly produces casual streetwear. The whole collection is not only ecological and fair, but also vegan and apart from a few exceptions, controlled and certified according to the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS). bleed uses no animal products and was awarded the PETA Fashion Award in 2013, the Bund Naturschutz in Bayern e.V environmental prize in 2012 and the PETA Award in 2011 as the most popular animal-friendly fashion brand. Instead of animal products, bleed uses certified organic cotton, hemp, lyocell cellulose fibres from eucalyptus (brand name Tencel) or cork from Portuguese oak. The majority of the collection is produced in Europe (e.g. Portugal and Poland), but hemp and flannel materials are made in China because of the high quality of these products there.
