APU KUNTUR

APU KUNTUR is a family business in Peru. In the mid nineties, the company began to specialize in alpaca knitwear, and today this continues to be the main focus of their product range. The textiles are manufactured in their own factories, and production is according to fair trade regulations but is not yet Fairtrade certified, though the company plans this as their next step. In addition to alpaca wool, APU KUNTUR uses other natural materials such as merino wool, lambswool and high quality certified organic pima cotton. The alpaca wool is not certified, as no certification exists for this type of wool as yet. The animals live in the wild and are rounded up for shearing, after which they are returned to the wild, thus fully meeting the requirements of animal welfare and organic farming.
